Dr. Alwin Almeida is a renowned Arthroscopy, Sports Surgery, and Joint Replacement Specialist. He has a remarkable track record of 20+ years in the orthopedic field.
Dr. Almeida has proved his brilliance in over 5,000+ orthopedic surgeries. These surgeries include a range of procedures from Joint Replacements and Intricate Arthroscopic Interventions on the knee and shoulder to Shoulder Arthroscopic Latarjet, Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) to treat cartilage injuries, and Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement using computer navigation and Sports Surgeries. He has treated many athletes engaged in professional sports and has helped them overcome their injuries and return to an active sporting career.
Dr. Almeida aspires to be part of a Center of Excellence for Orthopedics in the Caribbean. Here, he aspires to prosper on his mission to not only heal patients but also to understand and address the root cause of their debilitating joint pain and injuries.
Dr Almeida holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from St John’s Medical College at Bangalore University and MS in Orthopaedics from JJM Medical College in Davangere, India. He completed his Fellowship in Arthroplasty at Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai, and his Fellowship in Arthroscopy from Kamineni Hospital in Hyderabad. He is a member and Director of the Caribbean Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, SICOT (International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology) and The Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He also Chairs the Joint Regsitry Committee tasked with creating Caribbeans first Jont Registry.
